Because AEW has no legacy of its own, so he has to co-opt nostalgia from NJPW, WCW, WWF, etc. AEW even tried trademarking all of WCW's old PPV names from under WWE, which is why WWE is stuck with doing NXT Great American Bash, NXT Halloween Havoc, etc every year now. Otherwise Tony's going to swoop in like a desperate vulture and try to steal the trademarks again.
