If you can secure a mortgage payment that is less than the average monthly rent does it make sense then? I ask this as a mid-20s guy wanting to move out of my parents' house but not wanting to shred minimum ~$1200 per month. Using that same money to buy equity in an asset each month, even if the asset doesn't perform as well as the stock market, is appealing to me.
