Yes vocab but also very literal thinking. I never thought natively in German, it was 'thought' in English->translate mentally into 'thought' in German->say that, and the reverse was true on hearing spoken German. It was very slow and conversations passed me by because by the time I was ready to say anything the topic had shifted. I was also unwilling and afraid to say anything I didn't know was 100% correct. My desire to be seen as smart rearing it's head I guess. Finally I'm horrible at speaking in front of a group and I would have struggled to speak 15-20 minutes on a topic in English without reaping myself or getting caught in an uh-loop.
