Polygamy is more common than you think. In a tribe setting what happens those women will have A LOT children with very few men and the men who are not that lucky they probably die virgins.
In the modern West what is going to happen is that women are not going to settle until they find a man that matches their standards, the birthrates are going to collapse, society will get old and you will end with a lot of single middle age women and a lot depressed single middle age men.
