It's the same with tourism however, I guess you never actually did it so why comment? There are places in the world where wild animals roam free in the cityscapes and you are always by default exposed to the elements, sun and floods, animals, malaria diarrhea et cetera. People like you would actively avoid those more risky places though anyways.
Last year I went a bog in spring and after 5 km turned out 60% of way out was flooded. Trying to find way out without drowning was tiny scale adventure no less. It was a tourist place, it's just that most choose to retrace steps back, but I just went head on into challenge because it's fun.
