what sorta pain is it if I may ask?
tramadol should be easier to get prescribed in general since it has low street value, is the least abuse worthy opioid even compared to like codeine WITH paracetamol (like where you due to the paracetamol only take very tiny amounts of codeine) and also you cant really abuse it for too long as over 200mg it sort of starts to become a little risky and over 400mg its STRONGLY seizure inducing so people abusing it rather than using it for pain will build a tolerance that makes abusing it harder and harder unlike codeine where you can take up to 300-350 mg before the liver stops metabolizing further to morphine as just like tramadol codeine itself isn't actually responsible for the effects it needs to metabolize to morphine first. Which also is why taking grapefruit or other things will weaken codeine and tramadol funnily enough

>Which I fear isn't ever going to heal up naturally
Until you tell me more about it I can't tell you. What I can tell you though that even if pain doesn't go away you surely can build pain tolerance. A very close relative of mine had chronic back pain and in the start it was very hard he actually used (not abused) painkillers quite often to get trough it. Even got addicted , basically he was unsure if he could progress in life as the pain was so bad hed throw up and he was just in the start of his career got a family at the same time and could barely go out of bed with nauseating pain. He got very depressed as he thought hed fail but now many years later he even for the standards of a healthy person acompilished astonishing things all while having had this pain <spinal disease which doesn't produce any less pain so it isn't just that the pain left him> what changed was how he processed it. He simply "got used to it"
