Omg that's so cool you know idk if you ever did fencing or anything but when I was a little kid in korea before I moved here around 7 I did kendo in Korea pretty seriously since I was like 5 and actually managed to get a black belt basically like Japanese fencing with katanas except also a bit like Tae Kwon Do I never got to touch a real katana because I was too you mostly just fencing exercises with bamboo sticks and wooden katanas but I was able to hold and swing one a few time that was a long time ago and my life has been pretty turbulent since then but i'm still handy with any kind of stick or sword/bat axel weapon. I saw my sensei use the katana once and he was able to cut through a stack of bricks...I will say that a katana is alot heavier than it looks and from what I understand if you don't slice at the perfect angle you won't really cut through anything but it really it formidable for its weight if you have the right skill for it keep it mind I was only black belt tier 1 my sensei who ran the small dojo was like tier 7 so he was really good...I know what steel they use to manufacture the modern ones but to be honest I have no idea how they make it so sharp which is what makes its so deadly.
