Yeah okay, you can stop being retarded now. This was a specific example where OP noticed a girl in a bookstore wearing a Tomie shirt. I'm suggesting he should have mentioned that when he complimented the girl, instead of just saying "Hey I thought you looked interesting" which is what he actually said. The fact that he recognized the character from the shirt gave him some conversation openers where he could have talked about the Tomie manga, Japanese horror, or even just manga or horror in general.
