It wouldn't have made things worse though. It would have made millions of Americans closer to being able to afford a home, or start a family, or even just buy a car. Instead because "you didn't do it the right way!" the Republicans were allowed to tank student debt forgiveness and screw over multiple generations of Americans at no benefit to anyone except predatory student loan companies. Infuriating when Americans miss the forest for the trees and act like endless legislative gridlock and obstruction is better than baby steps towards a positive solution. Since I was fucking born in 1990 not ONCE have Republicans helped my generation. They didn't even help when I was a child and they were defunding school lunch programs to push more tax cuts for the rich. It's fucking infuriating how cucked Americans are.
