I agree that they are built and not just found, but the reality is it's not super simple for everyone. Age and mental or neurological issues can cause significant problems with friend formation. That's not saying that people should give up, and all people need to contribute to a friendship. It's just a reality that certain issues overwhelmingly have outcomes with people that have zero friends, because people cannot tolerate, understand, or be willing to empathize with them due to such circumstances. So people shouldn't be assumed to not want friends if they don't have them.
