It's about control. The average dipshit in America has little control, even the ruling white, cis, male class have a lot of things they cannot control, threats they can't do anything about. So some seize on the control they *can* have, the control to institute their idea of law and order, it just happens that the loudest ones nowadays are the 'i would kill anyone who tresspasses against me even slightly' rather than the older karen style.
