Because he was the "most cog cog" is the reason people are coming down hard
If some massive racist extremist or hardcore radical gets shot, then most people wouldn't be surprised cause again, extreme views. But this guy wasn't extreme, was open to dialogue, and still got murdered. Then the people on the left openly cheered and mocked it.
The right realized that the left, actually, viscerally hates them and would also openly cheer for their deaths considering as well their views are not that far off from this dead guy.
For better or worse, the left has finally dragged the right wing into the age of cancel culture and revenge firings.
