ime, thats a very juvenile view of things. its harder when you work together closely. i find that saying that shows that you arent going to be a problem at work otherwise. 'im interested, but im not going to be an hr level problem.' depends on your presentation of course. i find my sperg level gives me a confident front (in the eyes of others, at least, i apparently seem very self assured), so i havent worried about it. i just plan what i want to say, school the correct face and tone, and say it. women are all about vibe and intent, i think, so if you can communicate that youre a ok.
i dont doubt that perhaps my education-level peers i work with, my city and general region may also put more value culturally on not pressing too hard.
but thats also why fishing works - if she comes onto you, youre in the clear.
