For me it was depression and being suicidal. Why brush my teeth if i'm rotting in bed? Probably stemmed from something deeper though. I grew up with 2 older sisters and getting the bathroom before school/bed was such a pain in the ass and I am non confrontational. Combine that with the canker sores that plagued me when I was younger not being as frequent when I didn't brush and I think that caused it.
