Under Australian law there was supposed to be a mandatory amount of Australian programming on TV, so we had our own little celebrities, and cultural shows and in-jokes. In the early 2000's those laws were removed and the American shows all came in replacing everything. American culture came in so now dressing up as a black person was offensive, the american woke stuff started creeping in. Before, Asians were the primary minority here. Biggest Chinatown in the southern Hemisphere, no one really had any problems with them unless they were some guy from the Vietnam war or WW2. The centre of the city could sometimes look like singapore with all the Asians and Arcades around. I heard from other guys female asian students used this time to try out white guys while they were away from home.
