A lot of them do. A lot of women do too. It's difficult to find genuine people any more.
I figure the way to go about it is to be friends with someone for a bit and get to know them before making a move. That runs the risk of fucking up a friendship but at least you won't waste your virginity like I did. Time will tell if it works out, I guess.
