Hasan and Destiny are cult leaders. Their followers would forgive them for everything. You should look into how the term cognitive dissonance came to be. It started with a cult that believe aliens were going to come to earth on a specific day. When it didn't happen, rather than admit they were ever wrong they chose to believe that they got the day wrong and that the aliens were actually coming the next day. When it failed again, rather than admit they were wrong and had invested so much time and money and emotional energy into this cult, they pivoted and claimed that the aliens decided to give earth a second chance at survival and that is was now their mission to protect the planet.
This same thing is happening here. It doesn't matter if Hasan shocked his dog.
