Why do mothers, sisters, aunts, etc give their male blood relatives dogshit dating advice?

It's never "son, my dear, you're terribly out of shape and your hairstyle's messy" or "brother, you dress like a school shooter and you really need to stop looking at the floor when you speak to girls".
Or "Nephew, your obsession with Japanese cartoons scares women away, tone it down a bit or keep it more to yourself".

It's always some variation of "just be yourself, smile more, you're handsome, anyone would want you".
Is it genuine ignorance, being in denial about being blood-related to a genetic failure, fear of exposing themselves as superficial outweighing their interest in having a happy son/brother? What is it?
