Look at McLaren last year. Best car, but they lost the wdc to Max because Max still had a competitive enough car.
McLaren today are about to win both titles, but not because they have the best car, but because all other teams are a mess.
The best driver in the best car guarantees titles, even if your competition is giving you a fight.
