He probably came into the job with the intention of doing well. He's the type that smells his own farts so he thought he was as great as his nut huggers believe him to be. The wins over Saban were tainted and Liberty simply was able to outspend everyone in CUSA. But his supporters blew a trillion lumens of sunshine up his ass until he believed the hype.
His first couple of seasons were blamed on Harsin but in the current age of the portal and NIL, the bare cupboard excuse doesn't work very long. Last season he made a habit of blaming the players for his mistakes, especially poor play calling. His supporters kept doubling down on the potato man excuse, saying 2025 was going to be the year everything turned the corner. Now Freeze has to actually produce and he sees the talent just isn't there. Not with him, not with the staff, and not with the level of development in the players he recruited and should have been able to take to their full potential. Why not just go full Scott Frost and enjoy the end of the ride instead of fighting for something he sees is impossible for him to accomplish.
