It could be the fact that his dad died but it's also equally likely that it's just the fact that he stepped up in competition. It's easy to call someone the "heir apparent" and whatnot when they're fighting complete bums and not game top 10 contenders like Zhang and Dubois.

I think Dubois has improved quite a bit but just not in the areas I think he needs to in order to beat someone like Usyk. The most notable part of his improvement to me has been his jab, he's become way better at using it at setting up massive shots. But he's still way too hittable and has a tendency to be way too hit or miss even in fights he wins. Only exception is the AJ fight because AJs guard was so fucking terrible in that fight that it was impossible for Dubois to miss lmao
