It's because Milan AC, Juve and Inter had time to corrupt their way into many European titles, which organically gave them many international following. France never had that, because they "played the game honestly" until Tapie tried to burst that bubble in the 90s.
But other than that, look how how Italian clubs, let alone the NT is doing these days. Only eplel and laliga are doing well, and Germany, well it's the Bayern league.
