All I can think of to defend them is they were waiting for an SC, but your entire strategy cannot revolve around waiting for an SC especially not when the leader is lapping that quickly. We've seen Max run away with it in Suzuka and Imola already in sort of similar ways, so it's not like it's the first time and yet they cannot come up with a strategy at all to look even somewhat competitive when it happens.
