Cuz they and those around them have twitter brains and they're falling for mass hysteria and manias, which make enough of Hollywood to enforce orthodoxy. Those that are not as true believing don't see enough effort to fight against it, and many just make a calculus as to the best way to protect their career but don't necessarily believe it all.
