Hank has strong emotional reactions, but if it's just a cultural difference or something like that, he eventually comes around to it, because he has the insight and maturity to realize when he's being a jackass. But if something is still stupid or dangerous to him even after learning more details, then he stands his ground. That's literally the point of the show, and it always has been.
