I didn't say it was unknown I said it didn't particularly stand out. I don't know what the particular make up of the forums you browsed in the 00's was, but it was one fantasy series amongst others. it was in the second tier along with Williams, Rothfuss and Gemmel, all of whom were well in the shadow of Jordan and Pratchett.
