For me personally it was the end of social contract. I can function just fine, but I am more worried about small kids who were in elementary school. Imagine that people who were supposed to look after you were constantly screeching how you will kill grandma and how you need to stay 6 feet from other kids at all times and wear something you cannot breathe in, while Obama has birthday party with 1000 attendees and Hollywood has MET Galas with no masks.
