No, I'm taking shit about NGE in general. The only good thing in all that drivel is visual designs of sci-fi elements, but even then, they are quite derivative.
EoE was good sci-fi flick, but doesn't work without the main series.
And that one is one of the worst example of sakuga I saw. But that's just the obvious flaw.
Absolutely flat characterisations of main cast and bunch of useless supporting cardboards. It's basically shonen through and through, every character works through relation to main protagonist. Add to this the absolutely superficial esoteric symbols, because Ano was into Western occultism in his uni days, and you have the edgiest shit imaginable. It's the pathos you dig when you are thirteen. Evangelion is Hunger Games / Divergent type of crap.
