I've noticed the difference between a blu-ray and even a fairly high-quality stream. Blu-ray audio is always noticeably better.
Also watched a laserdisc rip that had uncompressed audio like blu-ray, and it's the same noticeably great audio even if the picture quality was between VHS and DVD
