Ehhh I dunno. I started with TNG and I feel like TNG better represents what most Trek is. Like, TOS is such a unique beast, it truly stands alone (well, except for TAS which is fucking awesome but still). But TOS is very much an acquired taste - if you can't appreciate the distinctly 60s tone, style and aesthetics, you'll fucking hate every second of it no matter how much the storyline might be interesting. But if you vibe with it, you'll love even the bad episodes (of which there are many especially in season 3).
TNG is far more palatable as an entry-point - it has some of the old-school charm and is fully episodic but more "modern" than the INTENSELY 60s vibe of TOS.
I adore both TOS and TNG but sometimes I think I am in the minority, and I only went to TOS after both TNG and DS9.
