It's great but somehow not as much of a gut-punch level of "great" as MK8 felt.
I played through it. Enjoyed it. It's very very good obviously. But I'm left feeling like a lot of it didn't really stick with me. And MK8 had me mesmerized by tracks like Mount Wario, and Thwomp Ruins.
I didn't think the tracks were very memorable in this one. Somehow there's so much variety everywhere that it just kinda felt like I was watching Space Jam 2, as in, hours of corporate "franchise-slop" for brand-advertisement. The game feels commercial.
Nintendo is losing their identity.
