Not entirely true.
I have said this time and time again that Sonic works better as a multimedia marketable character known for it's comics, movies, animation series vs the actual current games.
Sonic can easily survive without the games at this point. He's a very easily adapable cartoon character and people as young as my nephew loves him in the Sonic Prime show on Netflix, reading my comics and seeing rhe movies. He's never touched a Sonic game before in his life.
