It never went p2w retards, I started playing in the middle of the game's lifespan til the end and I have always been able to build a meta deck since day 1, while simultaneously saving up for future packs and leader cards. If anything, they made it less p2w, they gave out a free copy of all legendaries before Rebirth of Glory and opened up a shop where you can get a free copy of any legendary starting from RoG using free currency obtained from battling.
