I don't think the game is perfect but I don't think Lost Izalith for example is some completelly bad thing on the whole. But I also don't replay games. For me, I played Dark Souls more than 10 years ago. Near when it was still being hyped on /v/. And today I still remember Lost Izalith fondly, specifically its architecture, ambience, and general feeling. I don't remember the gameplay of that area. And that might be a bad sign, but at the same time, I remember the other parts of the area, which means there is still some value in what they presented, and it's not completely some shitty part of the game.
