I think he just looks out of place compared to everyone now. Compare him to Diddy, Dixie, Cranky and Rambi, who havent had much of a change, and it's fucking weird how it's JUST DK who got such a big overhaul.
Fuck man, I'd say he looks out of place even with Mario characters in MK, they give him all these big exagerated expressions and tried to veer closer to his 2D look, but then you've got shit like Yoshi who is barely changed, doesn't even resemble his 2D artwork and can't emote for shit. If you're going to start redesign, go all in ffs.
