It helps when you started with low fps to begin with. I was playing HL2 and Portal on the family Core 2 Duo Dell with integrated graphics. 25fps was the peak performance and I enjoyed it. Upgrading to a Radeon HD 5570 was huge for me and it cost me all of $50. I've never been wealthy and never will be but I cannot fathom ever spending $3000 on a single component. Shit is wild.
