>So long as it is stable that is all that matters to me
There is a lot of truth to this but games feel way more responsive at 60, simple as. I will take lower FPS if its stable with good 1% lows but playing stuff at higher FPS is a joy
On newer AAA games, I find that due to the complexity of animations and visuals in general it is much harder to play at 30 FPS. I first experienced this on Monster Hunter World. I didn't just want 60 FPS, it was legitimately way harder to play below 45 FPS and not in a fun challenging way. If you're hitting the frame rate that the game is designed around, most games are fine. Even so I do find games like OoT that are designed around 20, although are playable, do annoy me some with their responsiveness. Playing the OoT PC port at 60 made me realize how fun it can be to control, something I never felt about the original.
There is an annoying obsession with FPS though, but a lot of people have also upgraded to higher hertz monitors and want to get the most out of their purchases.
It also just represents something that irritates people and that's lazy devs who have forgotten the art of optimizations.
