I'd say romance writing was way worse in Undertale in general, and Undyne and Alphys didn't stood out. Meanwhile in Deltarune Toby managed to impress me, the biggest homophobe to walk the Earth, with a gay romance scene between Pizzapants and Nice Cream Guy, so it's safe to say that either Suselle is written bad on purpose or Toby is making the biggest mistake of his life.
