When the game's intro sequence opens with the question "ARE WE CONNECTED?" as the soul manifests. When the soul is separated from Kris and he moves without our influence and we are restricted to only controlling the soul. When characters in our castle town specifically address us as an entity distinct from Kris upon interaction.
Or the fact that dialogue selection with the soul icon is diegetic. If the soul isn't the player, what do you think it is? Or is your only argument to the contrary that the soul moves without our influence in cutscenes so it DEFINITELY ISN'T our medium of interaction with the game world? What do you think about miniKris in MANTLE and the fact that we're shown our soul entering the game before taking on form in an avatar that we proceed to control?
