Nu-pokemon is CGI and the soft, non-angular 'modern' artstyle is garbage. Just look at Ash and Brock in the top image vs the bottom image. They look the way they do because they were drawn with exertion and effort in the top image, and were drawn with shortcuts and corners literally cut in the bottom image.
