the issue isn’t with the character being trans, the issue is with the character being ridiculously rude and degrading to the main character, and the MC’s friend is appalled at the MC for not being liked by the trans character.
that’s just one of two scenes, iirc. the other scene had the character essentially stroking their own ego at a bar of some sort, and no one would calm out the character on it. this character’s problem is that it feels like a writer’s half-assed self-insert, not an actual character.
