Unfortunately that would just mean that we'd repeat the same shit a few years later. Videogames are the largest industry in the world now, and a surprisingly large portion of that is served by steam. There's a multitude of actors that would want control over this market.

A year ago or maybe two, the anti defamation league filed a complaint about steam spreading hate messages. Around 50% of the "hate" being spread was images of pepe the frog, but I don't think they give a shit. This CCC shit might just be part of a larger scheme to pressure Valve into going public.
