The fact that alignments are present in the game means they did a pretty bad job. You choose one of four sides (failing to choose a side whatsoever gets you a bad ending). These are alignments, because you ALIGN with them, whether they want to call them Law, Neutral, Chaos, or whatever. V doesn't call its endings Law, Neutral, or Chaos either.

But the fact is that the developers use the word Chaos (混沌; konton) to refer to Nocturne both inside and outside the game multiple times. The concept of freedom is the virtue of Chaos, and it's what Yuko's incomplete reason represents and what Aradia preaches. Meanwhile we call the other Reasons "Law" because it's the idea of playing the game and following its rules. We could call it Order, we could call it all manners of things, but Law just happens to be the thematic representation that fits it most. Even a dystopia can be a world of Law.
