GXK didn't flop and by all accounts it was the stupidest Monsterverse movie around. I'm not holding hope for modern Hollywood to understand this but I have the slightest inkling that Supernova will be a darker movie. Probably the bleakest Monsterverse movie so far and thats not a high bar when that title goes to KOTM or maybe KSI with its Captain Ahab inspired protagonist.
