I still think the original idea since chapter 1 was just the demo, was that kris was set up to be a self insert before pulling the rug from under the player later (as seen in chapter 1 not referring to kris using pronoums not even once (the jail scene is susie referring to both kris and ralsei)), but since the game got broken up into chunks that is lost
