Crypto isn't a good replacement due to how much it fluctuates, Steam and other stores in general need to allow payments by nfc just like how Asia, Russia and Poland started doing it in the wake of this. The US technically has this as the company that implemented that system in Russia is now in the US but hardly anyone allows those kind transactions there.

No they aren't. The loudest critics of it were Japan since companies straight up started closing due to this issue, this has been a real problem for a while but no news outlet in the west ever bothered to report this issue until it finally affected Steam.
