Taking one hit then killing them, isn't really that much worse than hitting them, taking a hit, then killing them, unless it's fast with sturdy. I don't think that exists.

Like, it's not nothing, and bad as Bug usually is, gen 5 IS when it's nice to have, what with both a psychic and dark e4, and probably needing a Hydreigon dead somewhere near the end one way or the other. Maybe it's better than Blastoise, who's fighting with Greninja at the bottom instead. I'd say Feraligatr is down there, but gen 4 feraligatr is kind of good. Gen 2 Feraligatr is piss, but he was blessed by the physical/special split like few others. Except Gyarados. Gyarados haunts Feraligatr's nightmares.
But, like, that's all why regardless of who's actually at the bottom of the water starters, they're still, to a mon, better than every single grass starter bar maybe the weedcat. And the weedcat is "okay" with effectively gen 1 razor leaf, which is kinda embarrassing. Give gen 1 razor leaf, but Fire, to. I dunno. Typhlosion, and the game is over the moment it gets it. Give it, but water to Greninja, and I think Greninja jumps up to just under Swampert for the best starter of all time, because now Greninja kills everything AND goes first.
