I have a really hard time enjoying anything from after that era. I keep trying to play something "new" and nothing ever gets my attention aside from, and I'm being honest here, not trying to be a patrician, Fallout 4 and Skyrim. And fuck, by this point they're nowhere near "new" games either, are they?
Gaming is my main pastime and I still spend most of it in Civ3, Tetris Attack, Mario 64, Streets of Rage 3, Medieval Total War and Vice City. The other day I grabbed Civ5 on sale and made it 90 minutes before I couldn't bear how it felt like a casualized children's game, and I've heard later installments are worse

I'm afraid whatever the fuck is wrong with me is genetic because my uncle is this retired boomer mechanic who has zero interest in video games except for Pac-Man which he has a bizarre mastery of. I'm not saying he plays it 24/7 or anything but I wonder how he's wired that he somehow really enjoys that yet cannot hold interest in any other video game in the world
