Yeah, there's a good reason for that and more people should be doing it instead of passing off their responsibilities as a parent on to third parties. It's disgraceful.

You can give your kids a phone without it being a smartphone with internet capabilities, those phones are around. They can still use the school computers for work, which is the only thing they should be using that technology for until they take responsibility for themselves. We don't let kids smoke, drink, drive, gamble or go to war, why should this be any different?
