Godzilla Earth’s biggest tragedy is how damn brilliant the lore *could* have been if they didn't relegate all the good shit to supplementary material and novels. Mechagodzilla City alone is such a top-tier sci-fi horror concept-nanometal assimilation, bio-mechanical existentialism, the slow erasure of humanity for the sake of efficiency-and they somehow made it feel like a weird footnote. Same with the Exif and their Lovecraftian ideology surrounding Ghidorah. It’s bonkers how creatively bankrupt the actual movies ended up feeling compared to the world they’re supposed to be showing us. Three movies and they spent 2.5 of them standing around on rocks arguing about if worshipping a genocide-worm was the move. Bleak.
